All I want for Christmas

is an O2 XDA II Mini!! Actually I have been scouring around for a "smartphone" / "PDA phone" / or whatever you would call it to replace my semi functional Motorola phone that I am currently using. I was actually looking around for a 2nd hand or even a brand new Sony Ericsson P800 (yes, you heard me, p800, not the p900, not the 910 and not the 910i, but the p800 ), as it would seem to be within my measly budget, but then I had the mis-fortune of playing around with a friend's P910, and, sad to say, the P800 just never ever felt the same again, although, I still do prefer the look and feel of the P800 as compared to the P900 series. That's just a matter of preference I guess.

Then, one of those days, while browsing through the lowyat.net forums, i came across a posting mentioning the O2 XDA mini (or the iMate JAM for some). There is an extremely extensive review and comparo of it on HowardForums. Darn, it just looks so darn good, it hurts! The size, so they say, is just nice, and from the pictures of it being compared to other phones and other items, i would tend to agree with them. It's around the same size as an Apple iPod (another one which I would want for Christmas as well ). Size ( and price, obviously ) has always been the stumbling block for me to get a PDA phone considering the fact that i prefer my phones small-ish and easily transportable without leaving a huge bulge in the pocket, or having to wear one of those belt clip-on things (I have nothing against people who do, don't get me wrong, but I just wont wear one of those. Personal preference again). Now, with this, it looks to be just the acceptable size to bring around. A slick PDA with *almost* all the functions you would ever need, except for the Wifi capabilities. However, you could add on later a Wifi SD module if you were to desperately need Wifi, but that would defeat the purpose of getting one of these as they would affect the sleekiness (?) of the phone.

The price being quoted around in the forums are in the range of 2500 to 3000 ringgit, which is pretty reasonable for what you get. OK, now, all I need is 3000 ringgit. Oh yeah. I don't have that do I? Can't use my credit card since I think I owe the banks enough money already. Darn. So, let me see who i can call who can loan me some money. Where's my Motorola again? Sigh.
